In 2022, the global car market faced unprecedented challenges, with many carmakers struggling to meet their targets. Toyota Motor Corp. sold 10.483 million vehicles, remaining the biggest winner in the car market, with four models in the top 10 global sales. The Toyota Corolla was the world’s best-selling model in 2022, with 1.12 million units sold, followed by the Toyota RAV4, which was the best-selling SUV.
The Ford F-Series was the third best-selling vehicle, while the Tesla Model Y was the first all-electric SUV to enter the global sales top five. Toyota also excelled in the pickup truck category with the Toyota Hilux and in the sedan category with the Toyota Camry.
The Japanese car giant Toyota clinched first and second place last year, with the Corolla followed by the RAV4 – accounting for 868,309 reported sales, making it the world’s best-selling SUV.
Of the top 10, the Tesla Model Y (up 88.7%), Chevrolet Silverado (up 1.8%), Toyota HiLux (up 3.9%), and Hyundai Tucson (up 0.4%) posted growth over the previous year.
